1. If I ever have battery problems with a Falcon - it always ends up with the air bag light (warning )switching on permanently. It then costs $90 to have it re-set by a Ford dealer who has an electronic machine to do it - and it has to be done to get a warrant. Does anyone know how this light can be turned off without the $90 cost?? Or should I just stay away from Falcons?

2. Sometimes the Falcon wont start when the key is turned but I have long known that by slapping the dash hard, the car will start. Doesnt seem to affect the car but does anyone know why this remedy is needed? Is there a simple fix?

Cheers

Seems to us the air bag light is only coming on as a result of a electrical problem with the car and until you get that sorted the cost to eliminate the warning light at WoF time will remain.

Remember also, when the warning light is on the air bags will not deploy in an accident where the occupants are at risk of injury which is certainly not desirable.

Most garages/auto electricians have the scanning tools required to re-set the engine management computer and to check for faults so this may be a cheaper option for you to try .
