My Subaru Impreza GX 2005 has done 86,000kms, mostly on urban roads. It is making an unusual engine noise at all speeds and my local garage is looking at it this morning. They have said the AA recommends cambelt replacement at 80,000 kms but the manufacturer says 100,000kms. What is your advice?

Stick with what the manufacturer recommends, they definitely know best.

Just check the time replacement period as well. Our technical information is suggesting every 4 years or 100K whichever comes first.
