I have 1995 toyota rav 4 done nearly 300;000 ks still goes well but uses a bit of oil what is the best oil to use please

There will be many opinions on this question both on recommended oil grade and brand.

We will stay away from the brand debate and say a 15-40 grade of oil should be fine.

The important quality with oil is its ability to circulate quickly when the engine is cold and retain good protection when the engine is at operating temperature.

The 15-40 should cover both situations while allowing for obvious wear in the engine at this mileage.

You could try a heavier grade (20-40) if the oil consumption continued.
