I have an November 2010 Subaru Legacy Euro Diesel that is using oil. Low oil warning comes on half way between services and when service is due. The dealer tells me this is both normal and acceptable. Seems excessive to me. Is anyone else having this issue?

You have to work with the Subaru Dealer concerned in a positive way on this issue, but I would be making my displeasure felt in writing to both them and Subaru NZ.

If they haven’t already done so, you should be insisting the Dealer carry out an official consumption test and any top-ups recorded in their files.

To comment further we would need to know the actual oil consumption but would also love to know what consumption figure Subaru say is acceptable for this model.

Waiting for the oil warning light to illuminate is a very dangerous thing to do. If engine damage was to occur as a result of a low oil level, you run the risk of the Dealer telling you there is no warranty as you should have topped the oil up before the light came on.

Not something most new car buyers are use to I have to say.
