Right-rear door of my '96 XJ6 (ex Sg) does not lock on the remote (all other doors do). My previous garage thought it might be that door's actuator (which seems likely given only one door doesn't lock).
Before finding a suitable repairer (is this something for an auto-electrician) - is there any testing I can do (other than taking the door panel off and 'fiddling around)?

You will never know unless you try, so why not have that 'fiddle' around you mention.

Be careful however, taking door panels off any vehicle can be tricky so it’s very much a steady-as-you-go approach to avoid damage.

Sometimes repairers don’t like trying to piece things back together after somebody else has had a play, so don’t go overboard and dismantle too much and expect somebody else to take the job over.

If you can’t fix it then yes it’s a job for an auto sparky I would imagine.

Or try and find somebody in your area who specialises in this brand and age of vehicle.

Cheers, 'Jack' - I'll have a look and keep in touch.
