I have recently bought a 2007 Honda Accord Euro automatic. The choke idle speed at start is about 1,500rpm and this feels rather high. The revs do start to slow within a minute or two but I have to be careful when manoeuvring my car as the 1,500 idle speed makes the car move rather quickly.

I have owned several other Honda's and all of these have idled around 1,100rpm upon start up.

I have asked Honda service about this and they say it is normal. Is the idle speed of 1,500 normal and/or could it be adjusted to about 1,100 rpm?

I live in Auckland so I can't see the need for the choke requiring to be set so high.

Unfortunately there is little you can do. The fast idle speed is pre-set and is controlled by the engine management system.

Like all mass produced cars it is set within certain parameters which should suit the majority of conditions.

Love to be able to say it can be adjusted but unfortunately I can't.

As long as everything is running to spec I feel you have to live with it.
