I have a 2000 Toyota Townace and a 2001 Honda CRV.Do these vehicles need their cam belts changed at 100000 kms and how can you tell easily if the belt is worn or not

The recommended replacement period is 5-years or 100,000kms whichever comes first for vehicles of this age.

Unfortunately there is no way of telling whether the belt needs replacing and no warnings are given before it fails. On both engines I suspect major and expensive engine damage could result.

You don’t say exactly which model Townace you have, so it would pay to confirm your model does in fact run a belt and not a chain.
