My wife's Toyota Corona 4WD 1992 model whistles when it accelerates, around the 2'000 - 3'000 RPM mark. What could be causing this? It runs otherwise faultlessly!

I'm not going to be much help here to be honest.

The first thought that entered my head was if the whistle was audible with the vehicle stationary or do you need to be driving?

Knowing this may help eliminate a few things (engine related or not).

Apart from that, I think it’s one of those noises that needs to be experienced to be able to offer any further opinions.
