The fog lights remain on all the time, I have had them disconnected at the back of the lights, so they do not now work. Is this legal for WOF, if I get it fixed, which means a new lighting stalk, what's to say it won't happen again?

I have been told it is a common fault with this type of vehicle.

Would I be able to just put in a switch and LED to replace that part of the electronics?

For a WoF, any lights fitted to a vehicle must work properly or be immobilised and the light itself covered.

Fog lights should be wired so that they can be turned on or off independently of the headlamps so no problems with a separate switch.
