Is it better to go to a Testing Station for the test and then get work done at a garage, or to just go to a garage for both the WoF and any work necessary to pass?

If you know you can trust the garage it's OK, however, we often hear reports of less scrupulous garages advertising cheap WOF inspections so they can drum up work for their workshop. With a Testing Station that doesn't do the work, at least you know you are getting an impartial inspection.

Thanks. Unfortunately it's a bit like going to the dentist - it's hard to say who's good or not without knowing a lot more. I think it'll be safer to go to a testing station.

Testing Station is the best.

I always go to a testing station. They are impartial and do the WoF while you wait - nice and quick, as long as you avoid busy times like Saturday mornings.
