Does anyone have any idea why my battery keeps draining if I don't run the car for about 2 weeks? I have a Mitsubishi Pajero automatic, about 1994. Runs great if I drive it most days. I've tried 4 batteries, a new alternator and currently have the meatyest battery that fits. Mechanics can't find any problem Ideas?

We will throw this over to the 'experts' out there who may be able to help.

Can't help with the solution but we have a 1993 Nissan Maxima that is doing the same. Latest flat battery was after 1 week of non useage. We thought the problem was the battery and since battery has been replaced in August 2010 this latest flat battery is the first. The car is used for long trips, 1,000 kms every few weeks.

Does it have an alarm, or hands free car phone? Sometimes they drain the battery even with the ignition turned off. Should be easy for an auto electrician to pin point with a test meter.

It has an immobiliser that is disconnected. Perhaps that's causing the issue? The last mechanic I saw thought it wouldn't draw enough to drain a battery so quickly.

We have some new Skoda Octavias at work and the Parrot Hands free kits were installed wrongly. The batteries died every week until the error was discovered.

You can test it yourself with a small multimeter ($20 ish) if you know what you are doing....
