These vehicles have enjoyed a great reputation for a long time however, time is starting to take its toll.

An awful lot can depend on previous service history and just what the vehicle has been used for, and the environment it has been driven in. Many of these vehicles have been subjected to a pretty tough life.

They hold their price very well based on that reputation for toughness and durability which is a great selling tool and a trap for those who assume every Surf is bullet proof..

The petrol is not a bad choice over a diesel depending on what your intentions are with the vehicle. Obviously diesel has its advantages when towing or as a hard out work horse but they can also be very expensive to repair if major engine problems were to surface.

All I can say is be very careful and don’t end up buying a vehicle which is passed its used-by-date.

There are no doubt some good buys to be had, but there is also a lot of rubbish around so do your homework and don’t be afraid to spend money on some sort of pre purchase inspection before committing yourself.

Nothing apart from general wear and tear on the suspension and steering components.

Once again a lot depends on the environment the vehicle has been exposed to.
