Hi

My 2004 ford Focus is battling to start when it is cold, this morning it would not start no matter how many times i tried. When i turn the key you can hear the starter motor turning over however it wont start, if i hold the key long enough sometimes its starts however this morning it wouldnt even start when holding the key for ages. It is not the battery as this is relatively new.

Could it be my start motor or something else?

Thank you

If the engine is turning over we can eliminate the starter as well as the battery. It sounds more like a general tuning problem to me.

Best idea would be to arrange to leave the car with your preferred repairer overnight so they can experience the problem from a cold start themselves.

They can then advise on what is required to overcome the problem and the costs involved.
