Hi,

I just purchased a used car 3 weeks ago as the breaks were sueaking front and back and had to send back to the dealers to repair two times. First time was to replace the pads. It was still squeaking after returning even though they have told me it is repaired. What do you think the problem is or have I bought a lemon?

Your advice on this is appreciated

I don't believe you have been sold a Lemon based on a brake squeal problem. This is not an uncommon problem for a lot of different makes/models to be honest.

Many workshops pull their hair out trying to eliminate brake squeal after repairs.

In some cases the causes of this condition is the fitting of cheaper non genuine or non approved aftermarket brake pads.

In other situations the machining of the disc rotors helps as does lubricating all the pivot points on the brake pad itself.

Light braking can also highlight the squeal as opposed to somebody who brakes a little more firmly.

I can only suggest you go back to the Dealer and ask them to have another attempt at eliminating or at least reducing the squeal.

Thanks you for that. I took it in for an inspection and found that the brakes need replacing (rotors) So I have basically rejected the car as I have had to take it somewhere else to see what they could not find.

Just waiting on their response on this one.

Thank you.
