I just bought a 2012 VW polo automatic. I notice when I slow down from a high speed, or of I coast downhill the revs shoot up from the 2 mark to 2.5-3. I haven’t owed an automatic before so I don’t know if this is normal?

Hi Automatic transmissions will gear down automatically to reduce brake wear using their computers logic to determine what gear is best suited to a situation.
If you find the transmission is operating a bit harsh it may pay to discuss this at your next service.
