Hi I’m just wandering if you know if bottom engine failures are common with this type of vehicle? I have always regularly serviced our car with Hyundai and out of no where through no fault of my own, I now require a whole new engine. At this point I’m failing to see how this could happen. It was not low on oil or anything of this nature. The car is only 7 years old, and it’s it’s just ticked over 100,000kms. I’m at a loss of what to do. Hyundai are refusing any type of claim at this point but want me to pay to strip it down and report back to them? Any thoughts regarding this?

Hi, a bottom end failure is unusual for a well serviced motor at that mileage.

I think you should have the engine stripped to see what has caused the fault. Outside of the manufacture warranty a vehicle must still meet the CGA requirements for a private vehicle...

The CGA guarantees mean the vehicle should be:

*of acceptable quality – reasonable in look and finish, durable and safe

*fit for purpose – either generally or to meet a specific purpose you told the dealer before you bought the vehicle

*as described – match the description in advertising or anything the dealer said at the time.

If one of your guarantees hasn’t been met, you have a right to go back to the dealer for a repair, and if circumstances permit, a replacement or refund.
