I recently was advised by a garage to replace the water pump in our truck. They also said they would replace bulging hoses. I agreed the repair and the vehicle was delivered back to us. The very next trip we did the hose blew leading to the heater radiator, catastrophically dumping coolant. Now the engine blows blue smoke and blown the head gasket. What is the garages reasonable duty of care with regards to this repair?

Hi there,
First it would need to be determined why the hose blew off, was it not fitted correctly, too loose, was it one that was changed or touched by the workshop?
Or did the vehicle have a previous fault that could have led to a cooling system/headgasket fault that caused the system to pressurize and blow the weakest point. You may need a second opinion as to the reason for what has occurred before liability can be established. ,
