I have a 1000kg caravan which is braked , Should I be concerned about getting a vehicle to tow it which has CVT Transmssion ? Most mechanics advise not to use a CVT Trans....
Are all modern CVTs about the same in ability to transmit torque , or are there variants ? (at what point will the band stretch .....? )
Is there a list of towing capabilities of various vehicles , and what was the source of the information ?
thanks

Hi Foster,
Over the years, we have complied a list of vehicle tow specs which is generally made up of NZ new vehicles, with the information provided my the manufacturer when the vehicles were first launched in NZ.
Newer CVT's seem to be built stronger and are starting to see better tow ratings- or tow ratings given full stop. However, they are still lower than standard autos and may require a bit of care when towing to avoid excessive load or heat build up. You might need to speak with a transmission specialist as to a particular vehicle and if any pitfalls are known.
Tow ratings are generally unavailable for Japanese imports.
