Hi. Our passenger side foot well of our Mazda Premacy is soaking wet after all this rain in CHCH. On looking around car, noticed the gasket around the windscreen around the area the rego holder is has tucked under the windscreen and the area that water drains to under the bonnet was full of leaf litter turning into soil. Could this be a potential source of leak (the windscreen was replaced 4 years ago)? Or where else could it come from?

The channels for your windscreen drain could be blocked, or the seals on the windscreen could be leaking, or it could be a vent for your heater/AV system.
The leak could be replicated with a hose and someone inside the car with a torch could be searching for drips. You might need the carpet lifted to have a good look. You might need to book into a workshop to have the leak checked or the windscreen seal might need checking.

thanks for answer. if it is the heater, where i would i look? would it be up behind the center of the console somewhere?

Generally up behind the glovebox area/base of windscreen you would see water trails leading down under the carpet.
