I have a rav4 2006 jap import. I did my research and there was a recall for this engine by toyota for oil burning issues due to weak piston rings. anybody who has had the engine fixed by toyota here in nz? or there is no hope for this issue and to just monitor oil levels and top up?

Hi you could always check with Toyota if your vehicle is effected by an engine recall and if it is covered , give them a call with you vehicle chassis number and Registration number handy, generally safety recalls are covered globally
