I have been advised that my Nissan Dualis (2010) needs its "inner rack replaced" ASAP, I have been advised that a second hand part is probably unreliable, but there are mechanics that will "repair" this alternatively replacing this with an entirely new part. Is it worthwhile considering a repair from a long term reliability point of view or is replacement with a new part a better option. What should I expect the relative costs to be??

Hi there,
When it comes to steering system joints it is not advisable to fit secondhand parts nor repair- in your case I would recommend new parts fitted and a wheel alignment to be carried out after. A new steering rack end joint from Repco for example will cost under $100.
