I’m looking at buying a Mitsubishi Pajero to tow a two horse float + horses and gear. What’s the max amount of kms should I look for, and do you have any recommendations of alternatives that are under 35k for a fairly recent vehicle? It must be an SUV and fairly economical on gas. Thanks!

Hi there,
It think there would be slim pickings for vehicles in this price, tow range, and fuel efficiency. The Pajero would be one of the top choices in diesel as you may be looking at 2,500kg+ as a tow weight.
A diesel BMW X5 diesel lists as having a 2,700kg tow capacity if you are wanting a European option.
A good average km's for a vehicle to travel is 10-15k a year- so a 5 year old vehicle could have 50-75k on the clock and be considered normal.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. Would the Sport version of the Pajero be suitable or should I stick to the Exceed model?

Hi there,
The Pajero Sport was built from 2016 and is listed as having 100km higher tow rating.
