I recently took my bikei1992 xv1100 virago in for a repair job as it was running on one cylinder. I was told the stator was burnt out and it was therefore replaced. I was then told the the tci was faulty and would therefore be an additional charge of about $500 and a replacement was found by my repairer and put in. I was rung the next day saying bike was finished. Although 5 weeks from when I dropped it off and $!500 (Yamaha had to freight from Australia)I was told bikes been tested runs and charges fine. I rode it straight to work. After work it wouldn't start just back firing and flattening the battery. I rung the repairer and he came and jump started the bike, stating I would need a new battery as it was charged a few times while repairs were being done and now doesn't hold a charge.. I bought a replacement battery and put it into the bike, only for it to keep back firing. I was told to check the plugs which were black from not firing. I asked my repairer if there's anything he would do as j had just paid $1500 and was told because of the age the bike that the wirings probably breaking down and I should now take it to a auto electrician to diagnose it. I had to borrow the money right on Christmas to only end up with a faulty bike. Please advise what steps I can take.

Hi there,
You may need to obtain a second opinion as to what is wrong with the bike, if it was always present, and what it would take to get the bike operational, and then speak with the original repairers if you are not satisfied they have correctly diagnosed and repaired the bike.
