I am thinking of buying a 2013 Toyota Mark X Zio. I'm told the CVT transmission matched with the 2,4 litre engine is not a reliable set-up? Should CVTs be avoided?

Older CVT transmissions by a few manufacturers had been known to be a bit troublesome. As time goes on they are getting better and able to be used with larger engines and even tow. Toyota have always had pretty reliable CVT transmissions and I've not heard anything wrong so far with those used in the Mark X.
