I have a 2009 Mazda Atenza that needs its engine replaced. It's going to cost about half of what the car is worth.

The car is otherwise in good condition. Is it worth it, or should I start looking for a new car?

This can be a tricky situation. However for this car you might find that the value not running is a lot less than if you were to spend X amount fitting an engine so you could actually lose a lot more by not fixing it.
