Hi, if the battery is truly depleted to 0% the car will go to limp mode and go only really slow, however there are several mechanisms in the car preventing this and the battery should always stay above 25-30% (this is equal to showing 0km left on the dashboard. The car will still go as normal just the engine will go to higher rpms if climbing a hill. Best to save some battery for hill climbing and passes. I hope that answers your question and invite you to Facebook group, where you can get much more answers from community.
I've found that when the battery is fully depleted and I'm climbing up a big hill like the one North of Taihape, the total power availalable isn't great, but when the last battery level indicator disappears, the engine just starts supplying power only to the wheels, so you shouldn't need to worry unless you're also low on petrol too. That happened once when I had only 4 litres left in the tank and the car just slowed right down to a stop and came up with several warning lights. The Mitsubishi folks said it was because the fuel intake pipe in the tank was in the centre not in the back of the tank so that's why it stopped. The car allowed me to turn off / on again and then turn around and coast back down the hill and I still had just enough juice to get back to Taihape to fill up.

I've done just over 160,000 km and the last time I had the battery checked it came back at 65%. That was about 10 months ago. However, I've noticed a considerable deterioration in the range this year. I'm estimating that the SOH would be 50% at best now. I'm getting about 25km range in EV around town. I'll get the battery checked the next time it's serviced.
