Ask an expert
good evening,
firstly thank you for the opportunity to ask a question and your assistance.
We have a Citroen Picasso , 1.6 2004 , bought new in the uk and imported to nz a couple of years back.
We need new front pads and discs , new exhaust , wof and a service.
A local reputable service agent has quoted $970.00 to complete.
Now i would not expect a quote for similar works , although can you give it your best thoughts and advise, is this price realistic going by NZ costs ??
It was a same day service and i understand the parts may be few and far between.
Have looked at the ORG.com's around and can't seem to get a comparison.
thank you in advance.
regards,
While you don’t provide a breakdown of costs (parts and labour) the grand total does not overly faze me to be honest.
Workshop hourly rates are averaging around $85 plus GST at the moment so it doesn’t take long to spend up to half of your estimated bill on labour costs alone.
The brake job could be very expensive if new (and genuine) brake rotors are required while the exhaust could also be costly depending on just what components need to be replaced.
If you feel the total costs are going to stretch your budget at this stage, I suggest you ask the repairer concerned if some of the work could be put on hold. You should also ask them to justify why all this work and cost is required.
Your other option is to take the car elsewhere for another estimate.
