Hi, I am 82 years old and therefore not allowed to drive until the lock down is over. Is there anything I should do to protect my garaged car, a 2019 Polo, for the next 4 ( ?) weeks of idleness ? Regards Bill.

A well maintained vehicle and a battery in good condition should not actually feel any effect of not using it for a few weeks. But if you don’t trust it or want peace of mind, where possible give it a ½ hour run at least once a week which will ensure the battery is topped up, and the engine oil and coolant are circulated. Just make sure that if the vehicle is stationary while running that the vehicle is in a well ventilated area. If you do find that the vehicle won’t start and you are an AA member- just give Roadservice a call and they’ll help where/when they can.
