Hi there,
It is a difficult one as there really needs to be an accurate diagnosis of a vehicle fault before any repairs are carried out. I wouldn't think an ignition fault code would be caused by a fuel filter, but if it was old and dirty with a potential for blockage- then it was possibly a good thing it was replaced in order to rule out a potential misfire issue. However, repairers do need to make sure they diagnose correctly and not just replace parts without cause.
