Hi, I just recently bought a used 2009 Audi A5 2.0 T from U-Sell. Been driving it for about 18 days. Within 1500 km from last service by Audi dealer, now the engine oil warning light has started flashing although the next service supposed to be due til 90,000Km and mine only has 77,000km at the moment. What are my options? Should I go to Audi to get a oil consumption check? And will Audi cover for the cost of piston rings replacement if needed? I have purchased Janssens warranty from U-Sell but not sure is it gonna help or not. Sorry for all the questions and looking forward for your replies!

Hi there,
This is quite a common complaint with these engines. I recommend you speak with the warranty company and follow their direction. You may need to speak with Audi also to do a consumption check and see if it is covered by any recalls, I bought a 2011 A4 with the same issue and rebuilt the engine (new pistons and rings) in order to remedy it. Audi quoted $18k for a new engine as mine wasn't covered by any recall campaign. Unfortunately if U-Sell is classed as private sales, then there is no comeback (or CGA) unless you feel you received false and misleading statement at the time of purchase.

Hi Cade, I contacted the seller before purchase and asked if the car has any issues before, he replies that the car has fully serviced and seems to be all good from Audi dealer. But I found out that Audi has suggested the car has go through oil consumption test and was suggested to be stage 2. Does that counts as misleading or false advertisement?
Thanks

Hi there,
I could be- if you can prove that the car had been to Audi for the issue previously and the person who sold you the vehicle knew about it. Information can be found here: https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/solving-issues-private-seller/
