Hi i have an imported car a 2004 Toyota Sienta
I have on the passenger front wheel a noise sounding when i go around corners
I drive 186kms a day and over the rimutaka hill (lots of bends) i drive for 1/2 before i get to the hill and once i start going around the corners its starts to make a noise (which sounds like a loose piece of metal sliding on metal)
It generally only happens around these corners, if you drive straight nothing and if you do a slow turn nothing
I have taken it to the mechanics and they said the CV boot looks fine, so they assumed the CV joint was fine too. They also say suspension and everything else looks fine.
They could not make it do the noise (which was just driving locally around the streets)
I find you have to heat the car up for it to do it, but it is coming from the wheel.
They cant find anything wrong (by sight) but i am also now getting (just sometimes) vibrations from the axle to the steering wheel.
I swear its the outer CV joint that is going and i am a little worried as i drive 186 kms a day over a steep hill and on a motorway.
I cant keep on affording to pay $200 for mechanics to search every time, so far i have spent $2000 on this car since i brought it in June last year
I know something is wrong and also the engine is now starting to rattle while i am accelerating (not all the time) but i am worried about all these issues, i cant get to work without a car and i cant afford a new one again
advice would be greatly appreciated,

Hi there,
If you suspect the cv joint, then a mechanic can swap it from side to side and see if the noise is now on the other side. Or they can strip, clean, and check the existing CV as it could have worn internally. It could also be the wheel bearing on that side, or brake pads doing weird things when they get hot. But all can be swapped to the other side or stripped and inspected for damages/wear.

Hi
Thanks for the advice. I have just had new brake pads and twice now it’s made a terrible noise, so I will pass this on to Toyota and get it hooked in (again) for them to do some of what is suggested
Thank you very much
