Hi i need expert’s advice on my car repair. My car stopped with engine light on last week. Mechanic scanned and changed cam sensor which costed me $400. But after one day, my car broke down again. Dashboard had lights on engine, oil and battery. And my engine sounded weird (it was not before the repair). I drove to nearest mechanic. Scanner showed its the issue of Top Dead Center Sensor 1 which is the cam sensor i changed yesterday (as far as understand). Mechanic said he doesn’t really know why. I’m just wondering why it’s happening and what can i do with it?
Thank you.

Hi there,
In some cases the sensor may not be the issue, but what the sensor is reading. This happens on chain driven engines if the chain has stretched and the sensor is ready figures that are out of spec. It sounds like your car needs to go back to the original mechanic who fitted the part, for them to either test and replace the sensor they fitted if faulty, or further diagnose the faults and think outside the box a bit just in case there is a different cause of the fault.
