I'm thinking of buying a 2006 Audi A4, but since Audi is a luxury brand, I hear it can be quite expensive to maintain.
How true is this, and are there any price ranges I can expect?

Hi there,
It's often experienced that European cars require extra repair and maintenance after about 10 years, as opposed to general Japanese vehicles. The attraction of a European vehicle can sometimes outweigh the costs, of which most who own them experience.

What would you say the average price of a repair would be compared to its Japanese counterpart?

I couldn't say as it varies al lot, and is dependent on who repairs it and where they get the parts. It's more of a case of not needing to replace the same things as often on a Japanese car as opposed European. For example a Japanese car often only requires a water pump as it nears 200,000km where a European car might be on its second one (my BMW with 90k on the clock is)

Best to stay away from most European cars. Search for online info on their many costly issues, and you'll know what I mean. The prestige badge and nice ride come at a high cost in terms of repair bills and the stress and inconvenience of electrical and other faults 😕
