I own a 2015 Peugeot 2008. It has only travelled 38,000 kms as I use it about once per week.
I have owned it since Nov 2017 when it had 17K on the clock.
It has developed a suspension in the left front shock. Googling this I found it is a common fault on 2008 models from 2014 / 2015 around the world (in the Peugeot forum). They mention that the replacement shock is now different as the original shock was clearly an issue.
My 2008 has come out of warranty by 1 year. I asked Peugeot, through Armstrong Peugeot in Auckland, to cover the shock replacements as good will (as I have seen this has been the case overseas).
I have been advised Peugeot will NOT accept covering this as it is a "wear and tear" item.
My question to the AA is, is 38,000 kms acceptable for "wear and tear" to replace shocks? I don't think so.

I have owned 20+ cars in my life, never ever have I had to replace shocks on any car with less than 100,000 km.

What does AA recommend I do?

Hi there,
In a situation like this where one party says it's too soon to have an issue, and the other says it's acceptable. The answer may have to come from a dispute tribunal. Under the CGA, there is no exact time given (since purchase from a dealer) and each situation can be different and you apply the logic of 'what a reasonable person would expect when taking into account vehicle age, mileage, vehicle condition and price paid' https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/
