Hi
I bought a Ford Transit 1999 diesel manual.
Driving on straight road and down hill it has no problems. But on steep hill it slows down till I need to go down to first gear and climb it.
Temperature was normal the whole time. No warning lights. Just slow.

It just been treated. New oil. New air filter. Cambelt was done 40k ago.

Does it sound like something that can be fixed or somehow modified. Or that's just how it will be because it's an old car.

Thank you so much

Hi there,
In 99 the Transit had two engine types one with turbo and one without. If yours doesn't have a turbo, then it will be lacking in power and will be a slow drive on the hills. If it has a turbo and the effect not felt, then you may need to go to a diesel specialist to have the system checked and make sure all Is performing as it should. Things like injectors, pump, and turbo are systems that can wear out and underperform with age.

Thank you for the quick reply !

So in case this is not a turn engine, that's something I should expect and live with?

Thanks again

I still recommend in either scenario having a diesel specialist look at it just to make sure everything is operating the way it should before ruling that it "is as it is"
