Hi there, I had an out of town car inspected by AA a couple of weeks ago and after buying the car have noticed a few issues in areas that were ticked off. I was wanting to know the seriousness of the issues and what I should do about them. 1 - when the steering wheel is turned full in one direction when turning with a bit of speed there is a low thumping noise near the front. 2 - when driving down the road there is constant quiet squeaking in the back of the car. The service history shows that around a year and half - 2 years ago. There were notes of "-MINOR PLAY FROM RIGHT INNER RACK END" (April 2016) and REAR TRAILING ARM BUSHES STARTING TO PERISH (October 2017).
My thinking is that the tie rod end is the front issue and bushings are the noise in the back but both have ticks on the AA inspection report so I'm unsure. Do you think that I'm onto the right track and need to do something about it or would you say I could let them pass? On a side-note the car turns over about 3 times before starting and the stereo was turning off this morning when cold when I'd try to change stations so I'm thinking - battery, but no big? No voltage reading on inspection report, just a tick.

Cheers

Hi there,
If you bought the vehicle from a dealer, I recommend you take it back and ask them to check it out. The vehicle should have had a wof within 28 days before purchase and I would have though those small items would fail if they were an issue. If the noises were present or demonstrated at the time of the inspection they would have been noted on the report for you to investigate further. If you bought the car privately, then I recommend having a workshop look into the cause of the concerns you have to give indication of what is required and when should it be carried out.
