Hi my team member has been told that her company car 2004 Suzuki swift has failed its wof and needs a new steering rack. We were quoted $2000 to repair this, and complete the wof. The mechanic tried replacing the steering rack with a second hand one but reports that this has not resolved the issue and has told us that they will need to look at replacing the steering rack with a new one. ($3000) I am concerned that if we agree to this then the issue will still not be resolved. What is your advice?

Hi there,
The vehicle may need a second opinion as to the nature of the problem. However, the issue with used parts is that if the issue is common, finding a good secondhand one free from issue is quite hard to do- hence the new part. However it might be better to try 2 used ones in hope they are not all faulty (if that was the issue all along)
