We have owned an automatic 2010 GLX 1.5 Swift with about 114,000km on the clock for about 3 years. Over the last year it has developed an intermittent shudder at about 1500RPM at around 50kph. It usually occurs when going up a slight incline and driving lightly enough on the gas so it doesn't change down.
A local auto mechanic suggested it was probably the ignition breaking down under load. Although there was no sign of arcing, which he expected to find, he replaced one of the ignition coils. It looked like the other one had already been replaced. That did not fix the problem.
It seems to me that the problem is more likely to occur when the car is carrying a load. It rarely occurs when one is driving unaccompanied. So I'm wondering if the problem might be in the transmission. When the problem occurs to me it feels like the shuddering you might feel in a manual car and you haven't taken you foot right off the clutch.
It certainly has us baffled as the problem is very intermittent. We can't get it to misbehave on demand, so to speak.
Have you heard of this occurring with other Swift owners and do you have any suggestions on what we can do to analyse the problem? Our mechanic has been unable to replicate the problem at all.

Hi there,
We've not received any reports pertaining to the Swift, unless the shudder is able to be replicated or gets worse, there is not a lot that can be done without wasting time and money chasing potentials (the joys of intermittent faults). You may want to talk with a transmission specialist in your area and see if they can shed any light as to potential issue they may have experienced.
