I have been advised that a EGV needs replaced on my Ford Territory. I have been quoted about $1400 for a Ford part but I can see an aftermarket part available at about $240. Has the AA questioned why branded parts are so much more expensive? Especially when they still fail.... Any advice gratefully received.

There are generally 3 tiers of parts and pricing, genuine, OEM and aftermarket. It is a choice where to get them from and naturally the manufacturer specific parts will cost more than aftermarket. We are not able to get involved in manufacturers pricing and business processes.
