Hi - can you please tell me is standard practice to replace the disc rotors (front & rear) when brake pads (front & rear) are replaced in a Honda Stream car? We had our car serviced and despite asking for only the brake pads to be replaced the disc rotors got replaced as well.... the garage had mentioned that they often replaced the rotors along with the brake pads - but we were under the impression that this would only happen if the rotors were damaged/needed 'skimming'. Would both sets of rotors require changing at the same time? How frequently would you expect rotors to need replacing?

If the disks are warped or worn beyond the point they could be skimmed the disks should be replaced, however the garage should advise you that this is the case and what the extra costs will be.
Its difficult to judge how long rotors will last many European models require disks and pads are replaced at the same time due to the compound of the brake linings.
It may pay to consult with Honda directly to see their recommended replacement intervals for their disks on this particular model.
