Hi I've just noticed fluffy/dusty sort of oil buildup around the front of my engine - 96 nissan bluebird. I've also lately noticed it misfiring when Im at 'cruising' speed in top gear. Any idea as to cause and cost would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Liz
ps - It has been regularly serviced, the most recent a few months ago.

Hi there,
from your description and the vehicle age- it sounds like you may have an oil leak from the engine rocker (top/cam) cover which is not serious or expensive to replace- just an annoying leak at the top of the engine and seems to leak down and make a bit of a smelly mess when it burns on the exhaust. The misfire sound like your ignition coil, HT leads or sparkplugs need testing and may need replacement- also common on these cars as they age. (sometimes the sparkplug holes can also fill with water if the engine has been cleaned/ rained on recently). We recommend taking it to a workshop to get checked out before anything gets worse.
