Hi there,
We need to purchase a new family car and because we are looking at expanding our family next year (currently have a 6 and 4yo), we are considering the Mazda Premacy 2005/2006. I travel a lot to and from work, about 100-120 ks a day. I have been reading most of the questions here about the Premacys but I still have a couple of questions.
I understand that the 2005/2006 2000cc model is non CVT trans with non direct injection motor. Do they come in both 4 and 5 speed trans? Or are they only 4 speed? Is the 4 speed significantly less efficient fuel wise?
Or are we better off with a 2007 non CVT 5 speed auto and direct fuel injection? We definitely want to avoid the 4WD models.

Thanks a lot
Korall

Hi there,
As the Premacy is a Japanese Domestic spec import, little specs are available and also little feedback about the vehicle comes through to us. But often, no news is good news. I would recommend getting the newest version that your budget allows as this will ensure the technology update and safety items are the best you can get within your budget. A four speed would have been ok in its time, but now would seem a bit less efficient that the 5 and 6 speed we see today. The 5-speed transmission was added in the 2008 vehicle update. 2010 saw the direct injection engine added and 2013 was when the 6-speed auto transmission was added.
