I had an inspection on a van recently and it was noted that there was "steering column universal joint play". How much does it usually cost to fix, and would it be accurate to think of this as a major safety concern that should be addressed as soon as possible?

Hi there,
This problem should not be too expensive or labour intensive the replace, provided the universal unbolts and removes easily. I recommend talking directly to a workshop for part and labour cost estimates. I recommend not taking any chances on a steering related part and have it repaired sooner rather than later. http://locations.aa.co.nz/aa-auto-centre
