Hi, i got 2006 mazda mpv 23T turbo model. Everytime I start my engine during the morning, i heard a cracking noise for about 2-3 seconds then it’s gone and you won’t here it again after other start up during the day. I just recently had my oil service. What could be the issue here? What parts needed for repair/replacement? Thanks!

It sounds like either the timing chain and tensioner could need looking at or the vehicle hydraulic lifters are slow to pump back up. This could be now seen due to the fact nice clean oil is in the system and an older thicker oil might have been masking a problem. Either way- I recommend getting a workshop to have a look to make sure the problem is not something that will turn serious.
