Why does my car surge when the Air con is on

Hi there,
This happens generally because the A/C compressor (pump) is continually clicking in and out of operation in order to keep the vehicle cool. This adds load to the engine which translates to a small surge as the power drops a bit when the loading comes on. If you believe this is out of the ordinary, it might be best to get the car checked to make sure.
