Hi, at a recent routine service mechanic advised that I needed replacement mounts (not the shock absorbers themselves) as there was movement which I would have noticed when driving. I hadn't noticed anything different. The car has 83K km on the clock.Cost to repair quoted at $380.00. Is this a regular repair, i hadn't heard of these failing.Should i wait to see if next WOF picks something up?
cheers

Hi there,
As your shocks hold the weight of the vehicle and are usually loaded as the vehicle sits, it may not be possible to detect the worn bushes until the vehicle is lifted during routine service or wof inspection. It may be more of an age factory playing part in the rubber bush wear than the km's travelled. Not an uncommon issue to experience over the life of a vehicle.
