We're looking for an Axela hatchback around 2011 year of manufacture, and note there's both 1500cc and 2000cc models available.

We assumed a 1500cc car would have better fuel consumption than the 2000 cc model, until we started reading reviews and noted that actually there may not be a lot of difference, with any differences depending a lot on the sort of travel being done rather than simply cc rating difference.

We live in Manukau City and drive both around Manukau and into Auckland City/W. Auckland motorway running, as well as occasional trips down country.

Are we necessarily going to make much of a saving in the long run going for the 1500cc rather than 2000cc model?

With appreciation for your comments.

Hi there,
The difference in engine sizes will depend greatly on the use, with a smaller engine being ideal around town driving and short trips- than a larger engine would.
The larger engine would have the power to make highway travel with a few passengers and luggage a little easier, where a small engine might feel a bit pushed or under powered.
