I recently (under 2 weeks ago) bought a Ford Mondeo 2001 from a used car dealership. I was driving it yesterday, it was running fine, then I came back after 4-5 hours and gears were not engaging properly. Made it 30kms before breaking down and having to be towed. Looks like the clutch is gone and I will have to replace it - a very expensive repair. I have only driven this car less than 700kms since I bought it. Does the dealership have any obligations to cover the cost of repair, as this was likely an existing problem, even though I purchased no warranty with the car?

Hi there,
It could be seen as too soon to have purchased a car from a dealer to have such a fault. More info can be found here for your right under the CGA: https://www.consumerprotection.govt.nz/help-product-service/cars/solving-issues-car-dealer/
