Wondering what is wrong with my ute. When i change up gears my revs increase dramatically to near 4000, no acceleration and takes a while to drop down. has only been happening in the last week

It sound like slipping of the transmission (auto) or clutch (manual), it's best to get it seen to before it leaves you stranded. It may require a transmission service or a new clutch.
