I am looking into buying an exhaust for the car and I know that it will be over the limit of 90db. The exhaust comes with a silencer which can be removed with some bolts and screws(needs some hand tools to remove).. Do they still allow this to pass wof? With the silencer installed, I know the noise will go down below 90db.

Hi there,
All I can do is to direct you to the NZTA rules that the inspectors have to follow. https://vehicleinspection.nzta.govt.nz/virms/in-service-wof-and-cof/general/exhaust/exhaust-system
If a system is modified and significantly louder, you may need an objective noise test.
